Mr. Stephen Omollo
CEO, Plan International
Stephen Omollo took up post as CEO of Plan International on 1 February 2022. He has extensive experience in leadership roles in the humanitarian and development sector, having previously served at senior levels with International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Commonwealth Secretariat and World Vision International.
Stephen is proud to lead Plan International at a time when the importance of its work has never been greater. With deepening levels of inequality around the world and the staggering setback on progress made for girls’ rights, he is committed to doing more, both as a sector and a global community.
Stephen is passionate about working together with girls and youth activists to create a more just and sustainable world. He strongly believes that a failure to act now is tantamount to failing a generation of girls, boys and their communities.
Before joining Plan International, Stephen worked for World Vision International as Vice President and Regional Director for Eastern Africa. Earlier, Stephen worked with IFRC in a number of senior leadership roles in Geneva and Addis Ababa.
He was appointed by the Commonwealth Secretary General as Special Advisor and Head of Good Offices and Mediation Services in London.
Stephen has also served in various roles leading and coordinating large scale emergency response operations in senior positions including Country Representative, Humanitarian Coordinator, Regional Director, and others.
Stephen holds a Master’s degree in Management, a postgraduate studies in Practicing Management, a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree and an MIT Sloan Certification in Digital Business Strategy.
