Partner profile: African Union Commission
The African Union Commission, Generation Unlimited and UNICEF aim to reach and benefit 10 million young people in Africa by 2021.
The African Union Commission (AUC), Generation Unlimited and UNICEF have committed to a partnership to support young people on the African continent and align efforts around the Commission’s 1 Million by 2021 Initiative. The initiative focuses on providing young people opportunities in education, employment, entrepreneurship and engagement, accelerating progress with and for African youth.
The partners will develop an operational framework to guide accelerated action to reach at least 10 million young people in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2021 and 300 million young people by 2030. They will bring together stakeholders from across sectors and ensure young people’ voices and agency are driving the process.
Contributing to the advancement of the African Plan of Action for Youth Empowerment, the partnership aims to achieve results at scale, both at the at continental and country levels. The work will be tailored to the varying local, social and economic contexts on the African continent.
