Diene Keita
Executive Director, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
Diene Keita is a seasoned leader in international development and public service, with over three decades of experience. She currently serves as Executive Director of UNFPA, having previously been Deputy Executive Director (Programme) and Acting Executive Director.
Her career spans senior roles within UNFPA, including Representative in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mauritania, Benin, and the DRC. She also served as Guinea’s Minister for Cooperation and African Integration.
Ms. Keita has dedicated her work to empowering women and youth, promoting inclusive growth, and advancing sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence prevention, including in humanitarian settings.
She holds a Doctorate in Law and advanced degrees in International Economics, Development Law, and International Relations from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and is fluent in English, French, Italian, Malinké, Bambara, Sousou, with knowledge of Fulani.
