One Million Opportunities (1MiO)
Skilling and connecting vulnerable adolescents and young people in Brazil to employment, entrepreneurship, social impact and skills development opportunities.

Brazil is home to 49 million people aged between 15 and 29. That figure is forecast to drop by half in the coming decades.
Investing in the current generation of young people will be critical in securing Brazil's social and economic future.
One Million Opportunities (1MiO) is leading that investment by connecting young people to jobs, skill development, apprenticeship and internship opportunities.
How the 1MiO programme works
1MiO unites the private sector, governments, civil society and young people in the drivefor a better Brazil.
It works across three interconnected areas:
Private Sector Engagement
- 242 major corporate partners are committed to skilling and hiring vulnerable youth
- Companies strengthen their recruitment, development and retention of young talent
- 1MiO actively campaigns for more companies to align with Brazil's apprenticeship laws
Government Engagement
- At federal level, 1MiO has partnered with the Ministry of Labour and Employment and ILO to design a National Pact for the Productive Inclusion of Youth
- At state level, six state governments have launched the Youth Productive Inclusion Laboratory to evaluate and certify youth employment policies
- At municipal level, 1,842 municipal governments across the Amazon and Semiarid regions have generated 31,800 apprenticeship and job opportunities for young people
Digital Platforms and Skills
- 1MiO is supported by a digital learning platform that connects young people to opportunities
- It launched the Passport to Earning programme in 2023, a platform with 68 courses in digital, entrepreneurial and job-specific skills
- 16 community organisations have become 1MiO hubs, coordinating job offers and skill development for vulnerable young people from small cities nationwide
